About this service

About half the people I see with diabetes have either reduced sensation or reduced circulation in their feet — sometimes without realizing it. The single biggest factor in avoiding serious diabetic foot problems is catching small issues early: a blister, a pressure spot, a tiny crack between toes. Each visit, I run a complete diabetic foot check (pulses, sensation with a monofilament, skin integrity, nail and callus condition), trim and smooth safely using diabetic-friendly technique, and walk you (or a caregiver) through what to watch for at home. If something is borderline, I send you home with a clear list of what to monitor and when to call.

Conditions treated
  • Diabetic neuropathy (reduced sensation in the feet)
  • Reduced circulation / peripheral arterial disease
  • Diabetic skin changes — dryness, fragility, slow healing
  • Risk of diabetic foot ulcers
  • Pre-existing wounds requiring careful around-the-foot care
  • Onychomycosis (fungal nails) common in diabetic clients
How often

Most diabetic clients book every 4–6 weeks. More often if there's an active concern.

Common questions

About Diabetic Foot Care in Calgary

  • Why can't I just trim my own nails at home if I have diabetes?

If you have reduced sensation, even a small cut can become a wound without you noticing. A trained foot care nurse trims safely and checks the whole foot for issues you can't see or feel.

  • Do you communicate with my doctor?

Yes, if you'd like. I can provide a written summary of any concerns to share with your GP or endocrinologist.

  • Is this covered by Alberta Health?

Foot care nursing is generally a private-pay service in Alberta. Some private insurance plans reimburse — ask your provider before booking.

  • What if I find something between visits?

Call or text me. Any open sore, even a small one, deserves a same-week look.
